One week from now I’ll be launching a Kickstarter to fund the Armenian children’s book I’ve been working on for the last six months. Since July I’ve been building the Kickstarter page, preparing my video, and coming up with some fun rewards for you all to purchase while you support this initiative to provide our children with Armenian language tools that they can start using as soon as they learn how to use the power of their hands.
For those who aren't familiar with Kickstarter, it's an online platform to launch new products by offering people rewards like the product, itself, or other creative, non-tangible goods. If you don't reach your goal within the set time limit, you don't receive any of the funding and in turn people who have pledged are not charged. Kickstarter was the best solution to both provide ecommerce-like functionality and get market validation without committing to printing first.
While prepping for the Kickstarter, I’ve also been working on finalizing the book itself. I had the text written and edited, but recently I decided to also add transliteration to the text so that even if someone doesn’t know how to read Armenian very well (or even at all), they will still be able to read in Armenian using the Latin alphabet. Not only will this help families where there’s only one Armenian-speaking adult, it’ll also help those children and adults who have no Armenian language skills at all.
I’ve also been reaching out to local (and some not-so-local) resources to help me spread the word about the book and the Kickstarter. While my campaign goal will cover the cost of printing this book, I hope that contributions will far surpass the goal value so that I can keep writing and publishing these books. At this point I'm planning to a make the first book available for purchase world-wide through Kickstarter so that anyone who wants to purchase one can do so, regardless of their mailing address.
More updates and a Kickstarter campaign launch announcement to come!
